Smoking as a factor influencing the rehabilitation process after cardiac surgery

Introduction: Comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation is a standard therapeutic procedure in patients after surgery. Its course depends on many factors. One of them smoking. Exposure the body to tobacco compounds reduces supply oxygen organs, which turn has damaging effect heart tissue.Objective: The aim this study determine smoking effectiveness surgery.Materials and methods: research was carried out at Department Cardiac Surgery, SPSK 2, Pomeranian Medical University Szczecin. conducted among 35 patients, divided into 3 groups. first group 9 people (26%) were non-smokers. second assigned 11 (31%) who heavy smokers. third consisted 15 (43%) had been addicted cigarettes past. tool used 6-minute walk test.Results: Non-smokers achieved greater improvement test score compared smokers ex-smokers, whose mean lower by 39.17 m (± 100.80) 85.74 80.56), respectively.Conclusion: Smoking may have an impact exercise capacity tolerance
